Haught Style owner Laura Oxandale always dreamed of working in fashion, and now she's made that dream a reality. After majoring in business at University of Kansas and working in finance for three years and following a strict dress code, Laura realized that there was a void in the Kansas City shopping scene - a place where it was easy to find stylish, grown-up clothing."Sexy has been a clothing focus for so long," says Laura, who named her boutique after her maiden name, Haught. "I wanted to bring women a new focus - classy."
Deciding to start a boutique with no fashion or boutique management experience may sound risky, but for Laura it was a natural fit. She knew exactly what she wanted her store to look like and what she wanted it to say to women - there's a time and place for jeans and sweatshirts, but today's modern woman needs sophisticated clothes to match her lifestyle.
Staying on top of trends but providing her customers with unique and wearable clothing is essential, says Laura. "I guess all those years of reading Vogue and InStyle have turned out to be good business sense!"
